Our V1 Mazybowl is a collaboration with Jacob Evan Smith, aka MazySuzan, consisting of a meandering path extruded into the concave surface of a bowl which is traversed by a steel ball bearing. The bearing is retained between play by a magnet installed in the center of the maze. The bowl is a multi material 3D print made in a single piece using Fused Deposition Modeling of Polylactic Acid (PLA).

Brian and Jacob met in 2024 at Newlab in Detroit, MI. They instantly connected over their love for art as a practical medium to bring joy into daily life. The idea of an articulated, non-planar maze toy had been a concept at Degrees of Freedom for some time, and this serendipitous connection was the catalyst to finally bring it to life.

The bowl's winding track forms a closed loop without a discrete beginning or end. The width of the track and ball ensure that the path can only be successfully navigated with gentle, smooth movement. Play is calm, meditative, and delightful.

Mazybowls are offered in a collection of colors. Our red-body bowls have a glow in the dark track, whereas our white bowls and green bowls are solid, non-glowing colors.

While we offer flat rate shipping for all international orders, packages may be subject to additional import duties during delivery depending on the country. Due to the variety of locations that we serve, we rely on customers to manage regional policies and fees for their specific order.

Designed with Mazysuzan

Jacob, aka MazySuzan, is a Detroit-based connector, creative, and community organizer whose art delves deep into the essence of play and exploration.

3D Printed in a Single Piece

Mazybowls are fabricated in a single setup using common 3D printers. We selected Polylactic Acid (PLA) filament to maximize the variety of colors that could be used in its construction.

Stimming and Meditation

With a meandering closed path extruded in the Mazybowl's concave inner surface, the journey has no beginning or end. The shallow track can only be traversed with gentle, smooth movements. These properties make it perfect for relaxation, stimming, and meditiation.

Not Food or Dishwasher Safe

Sadly, due to the porosity and manufacturing environment of the V1 Mazybowl, the product is not food safe. Please only use the bowl with dry, non-consumable objects like our stainless steel ball or car keys. It's perfectly inert and safe to handle, just don't eat out of it.

Also, since the bowl's polymer softens at 60C or 140F, we only recommend product use and cleaning at room temperatures. The product cannot survive cleaning in residential dishwashers.

Beautiful Art that is fun and functional!

I love my Mazybowl! It’s beautiful art that looks good on the coffee table but also fun to move the ball around the maze. It’s light and durable so I’m not worried about my kids playing with it or dropping and breaking it. Great collab between MazySusan and Degrees of Freedom!
