About this Limited Edition:
Our Fourth Limited Edition Kinetacube® Ring Box, the LE4-Titan, is a collaboration between Degrees of Freedom and Titan Ring Designs. Machined from solid Grade 5 titanium and featuring a tumbled finish, LE4 is truly a piece of jewelry in and of itself.
We originally connected with Titan Ring Designs in 2019 based on our shared love for mechanical art. Titan Ring Designs specializes in the creation of fine mechanical jewelry with titanium machining as their chosen medium. When it came time to explore the application of our ring box design to new materials, Titan was a natural, values-aligned fit. They've since managed to apply their obsessive attention to detail to this product and the result is truly exquisite.
In addition to adopting an especially challenging and robust material in its construction, LE4-Titan rolls in continued refinements to the underlying mechanism based on our experience with LE3. These are without a doubt our most buttery and reliable Kinetic Ring Boxes we've offered to date.
All purchases include complementary laser engraving of a custom message. These messages are placed discretely on a panel edge where they're visible while the box is open but concealed when closed.
Each box in this limited run of 10 pieces is laser-marked with its individual number, assembly date, design iteration, and design version. These markings are positioned such that they aren't visible to the ring's recipient when the box is presented. Customized engravings will be placed in the same location on an adjacent panel to ensure that your personalized message is the only text that the recipient may see when the ring is revealed.
Piece numbers within the run will be issued to customers in the order of purchase.
About the Ring Box:
In the Kinetacube Ring Box's patented design, six faces of a cube are formed by the links of a mobius kaleidocycle mechanism. With each face mapped to an individual link, the entirety of the box transforms during the opening process, revealing its contents in one fluid motion. Its single degree of freedom movement results in motion which is fluid, satisfying, and will continue to mesmerize even years after introduction.
Inside of the ring box's machined aluminum mechanism, a silk-wrapped foam pillow is installed to carry the box's contents. While closing, the pillow's segmented design is wrapped around the ring, holding it securely in place. When opened, the foam insert flattens while continuing to grip safely onto the ring.
To permit opening of the ring box's mechanism, its back has a curved opening which is covered by its velvet-wrapped insert while closed. The pointed ends of three curved panels act as feet which allow the box to sit on its end.
While we offer flat rate shipping for all international orders, packages may be subject to additional import duties during delivery depending on the country. Due to the variety of locations that we serve, we rely on customers to manage regional policies and fees for their specific order.
This is by far my favorite piece of titanium and I have a lot of titanium edc stuff! I now own the 30mm, 42.7(golf ball) and the 50mm! Love them all, now just waiting for the 100mm to restock! They all have there own different noise when being bounced. It is obviously very tough being titanium but the lattice design I believe makes it that much more tougher. It looks amazing, it’s like a piece of art! I love looking at it, holding it, rolling it around and of course bouncing it! Also like pulling it out just to show it off to other people because i know they have never seen anything like it and most are fascinated like myself. Great customer service! Customer for life here and look forward to other cool things y'all come out with! Don’t know if possible but could y'all make like a double thickness like y'all did with the 100mm for the 42.7? Thanks for the great product guys, and keep up the good work!
Coordinated with the team at Degrees of Freedom about half a dozen times to ensure every aspect of my proposal to the woman of my dreams was unique beyond her wildest imagination. Mission SUCCESS! Looking forward to having it engraved with dates and star maps in the near future. Wanted to give a strong shout-out to Steve Howson on the team for EVERYTHING! Thank you. Saving $$$ for my next purchase. Degrees of Freedom has my support 100% of the way for high quality products that are made in the USA.
This is the single greatest thing ever made. The Mona Lisa and Pyramids of Giza pale in comparison. Nolan will make a movie about this one day.
Probably the only printed titanium I’ll ever get my hands on. The sphere seems structurally sound from all angles — which is required considering you are going to bounce it. Really quite an impressive construct. It rings for a very nice duration. About all there is to complain about is the price but that will decrease eventually I imagine.
The lattice structure is equal parts mesmerizing and durable. Listening to sound the ball makes as it strikes the concrete is quite satisfying.
